Who is Goodall Class?
Dame Jane Morris Goodall DBE ( born Valerie Jane Morris-Goodall on 3 April 1934), formerly Baroness Jane van Lawick-Goodall, is an English Primologist and anthropologist. Seen as the world's foremost expert on chimpanzees Goodall is best known for her 60-year study of social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees since she first went to Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania in 1960, where she witnessed human-like behaviours amongst chimpanzees, including armed conflict.
In April 2002, she was named a UN Messenger of Peace. Goodall is an honorary member of the World Future Council.
Year 4 Curriculum
Learning this half term
In English, we are reading the book 'Flotsam'. We will be working on our explanation and persuasive writing.
In maths, we are continuing working on fractions . We will then look at decimals, money, time, capacity, data handling, position and direction.
In PE, we will be doing basketball and working with coach Steve. . This will be on a Monday or Wednesday ( weather depending and Friday this term.
In science, we are learning about Animals including humans and living things and their habitat.
In geography, we will be learning about South America and The Amazon.
In music, we are learning about Samba
In RE, we are looking at When Jesus left what was the impact of Pentecost?
In art, we are looking at Every picture tells a story
In PSHE, we ae looking at Citizenship and Economic Wellbeing.
In Computing, we are looking at Information Technology.

PE
At Haslam Park we need to wear:
- white or green school shirt.
- black leggings, jogging bottoms or shorts
- school jumper in the winter months
- black trainers
- No jewellery should be worn on PE days.
Goodall Class PE days are MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY.
HOMEWORK
Every week your child will be set homework on Spelling Shed, TT rockstars and occasionally Purple Mash. You child will be listened to read in school but it is important that you listen to your child read at least three times a week and sign their diary. As we know reading is a life skill.

TIMES TABLE TEST
Nationally all Year 4 children are tested on the knowledge of their timetables. We are doing lots of practice in class and it would be really useful if children practice this skill at home as well.
Children can use Purple Mash or TT rockstars to help.
